Clare Livingston
Clare is the Interim Director of Advancement at the University of Aberdeen. She has spent most of her career in Higher Education, and Aberdeen has always been the place she comes back to. Friends and colleagues will tell you it’s because she genuinely loves the people here and the feeling that every day brings a mix of ideas, community, and real impact.
She also spent part of her career as a Consultant with Marts & Lundy, working with organisations across the sector. That experience shaped how she leads, collaborates, and her belief that investing in people is the most important part of the job.
Working in university fundraising has taught her that the heart of philanthropy isn’t about big numbers. For Clare, it’s about the change that becomes possible, the stories people share, and the collective impact created when many individuals choose to support something they truly care about.

Favourite Leadership Quote
“If your actions create a legacy that inspires others to dream more, do more, and become more, you are an excellent leader.” — Dolly Parton
I applied to the Elischer Foundation mentoring programme because I learn best through honest conversations and strong peer networks. Having a community of people who understand the realities of our sector is invaluable, it keeps me grounded, curious, and willing to stretch myself.
