Amy Bird
Amy became a fundraiser more by chance than design. After working across small charities in a range of roles, she found herself drawn to the challenge of bringing in income - and discovered she was good at it. Much of her career has involved building fundraising programmes and partnerships from scratch, including at a start-up international development charity delivering wellbeing programmes across the UK, Palestine and Lesotho.
Amy is currently Head of Fundraising at the National Emergencies Trust where she leads all fundraising activity with a focus on corporate partnerships and high-value giving. Joining the charity just two years into its journey, and following its first major UK disaster appeal, she has established the charity’s public fundraising infrastructure, developed its fundraising strategy, grown income by 22%, and strengthened its ability to respond to future crises.
Passionate about developing her leadership skills, Amy completed the Windsor Emerging Strategic Leaders programme in 2025 where she developed a taste for being part of a community of brilliant people she can learn with, be challenged by, and figure things out alongside. Joining the Elischer programme with fellow fundraisers is the next exciting step in her leadership journey.

“The only thing I know for sure is that if you’re going to dare greatly, you’re going to get your ass kicked at some point. That’s why we call it courage. That’s why it’s so rare.” - Brené Brown
At times it can feel like we’re operating in a dystopian environment, which only sharpens the challenge of fundraising. I’m keen to be part of a group that cares deeply, will challenge how I think and work, and where I can learn alongside other fundraisers who are pushing beyond the status quo.
