James Bennett

James works in higher education, currently focusing on major and principal gifts and fundraising strategy as Associate Development Director at Mansfield College, University of Oxford.

At Mansfield, James has led on the development and launch of the For Mansfield. Forever. campaign which has so far raised more than £50 million and won a 2025 CASE Circle of Excellence Award.

James got his first fundraising job at the age of 18 when he worked as a telephone fundraiser first for national charities and then at the University of Exeter. Once he graduated, he worked in regular giving, prospect research, and development operations before beginning to specialise in major gifts and fundraising strategy.

Having spent time with national charities, museums, and multiple higher education institutions, James is looking forward to connecting with fundraisers across the charity landscape and learning from an incredible network of people who are passionate about the future of the sector.
