Helen Blyth

Helen is Head of Individual Giving Marketing at the Macular Society; raising funds for research into finding a cure for macular disease, the biggest cause of sight loss in the UK, and helping people living with it now.

A Tourism graduate with a career in financial services, marketing and product development, Helen transitioned to fundraising to make a meaningful impact. With a passion for direct marketing and results orientated, Helen enhanced the individual giving program at the Macular Society, achieving 65% income growth over 4 years. As Head of Individual Giving, Helen now leads the team, sets strategic goals, and oversees various fundraising initiatives.

Outside of work, Helen is a local Division Commissioner for Girlguiding and oversees 100 volunteers, leading on providing opportunities for more girls to have more fun and adventure.

As fundraisers, we need to embrace change, whether external market changes or internal organisation changes. Change always brings opportunities, but is often challenging to work through. I believe that building a mentoring relationship over a longer period of time could really provide the focus on development I need, as I seek to move through change with resilience.
